No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Cesar Gueikian's net worth. The $12.5 million figure that appeared on this page before had no source, and we have removed it. What is documented is how he made his money: two decades in banking and private equity, a lender's stake in Gibson that turned into equity when the guitar maker left bankruptcy in 2018, and three years as Gibson's president and CEO before he stepped back on July 31, 2026. He now describes himself as a shareholder, board member and artist ambassador at the company.

What is Cesar Gueikian's net worth?

Forbes, Bloomberg and Celebrity Net Worth do not list a figure for him, and Gibson is privately owned, so it does not publish executive pay, share ownership or profits. Any single number you see for him online is a guess.

What can be said is where his wealth comes from. Before Gibson he worked on the trading floors of Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch and UBS, then founded his own investment firm, Melody Capital Partners, according to a 2026 profile in the University of Chicago Booth School of Business magazine. The same profile says he had been quietly buying Gibson's distressed debt before the company filed for Chapter 11 in 2018, when it was carrying about $500 million of debt. In the restructuring, lenders including Melody Capital and funds affiliated with KKR swapped that debt for ownership of the reorganized company. In his June 2026 statement on leaving the CEO job, Gueikian said he looked forward to his next chapter "as a shareholder," which confirms he holds equity, though the size of the stake has never been disclosed.

Cesar Gueikian

Cesar Gueikian's salary and yearly income

His salary has never been made public. Earlier versions of this page claimed he earned $500,000 a year, $42,000 a month and $1,400 a day. None of those numbers had a source, so they are gone. As a private company, Gibson has no obligation to report what it pays its chief executive, and it has not done so.

His income now comes from three documented roles: a seat on Gibson's board, a paid or unpaid position as strategic advisor to that board (the terms were not announced), and his work as the company's global artist ambassador. He also releases music under his own name on streaming services, but there is no public data on what that earns.

Early life and family

Gueikian grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the son of second-generation Armenian immigrants, and calls himself an Armenian Argentine. The old version of this page said he came from Peru; that was wrong. The Booth profile says his great-grandparents survived the Armenian genocide of 1915 to 1916 as teenagers, and that he is one of four siblings.

His father ran a business selling Hallmark cards and licensed character goods, including Peanuts merchandise, for which he held South American licenses. Gueikian began helping in the business at about 10, selling products to customers, and started playing guitar around the same age after hearing his father's copy of Black Sabbath's first album. He also competed on the international tennis tour, according to a Brand Innovators speaker biography.

No reputable outlet has reported on his marriage, so we have removed the generic "wife" section that was here before. The Booth profile gave his age as 49 in April 2026, which puts his birth in about 1976 or 1977; his exact date of birth has not been published.

Education

He earned a bachelor's degree in business from Universidad de San Andres in Buenos Aires and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he graduated in 2003. Booth's magazine credits his training there in special-situations investing with shaping how he approached Gibson's debt.

Gibson's executive chairman, Nat Zilkha, said in the June 2026 announcement that Gueikian had been with the company for 13 years, which suggests his involvement started well before the bankruptcy, likely as an investor. Chief commercial officer Anne Rohosy became interim president and CEO while the board searches for a permanent successor.

The earlier version of this page also claimed he co-founded the streaming service Deezer and worked at firms called Octave Capital Management and Raister. We found no support for any of these claims and have removed them.

What he did at Gibson

Under his leadership Gibson pulled back from the consumer-electronics diversification that had helped push it into bankruptcy and refocused on making guitars. The company also dropped "Brands" from its name and went back to being called simply Gibson, a change Guitar.com tied to that refocusing. In 2021 it opened the Gibson Garage, its flagship store, in Nashville's Cummins Station. The Booth profile describes the company as focused and profitable eight years after the bankruptcy, though Gibson does not publish its financial results.

Gueikian also learned to build guitars himself during his time as CEO. MusicRadar reported in 2026 that ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons took one of his custom "CEO" guitar builds on tour, and Guitar World reported that Kirk Hammett played another with Metallica at the Back to the Beginning concert before it was auctioned. In September 2026 Gibson launched the limited DES series, named after his "Do Epic Shit" motto and modeled on his builds, with proceeds going to the company charity Gibson Gives.

Music career and guitar collection

Gueikian is a working musician as well as an executive. The Brand Innovators biography says he has performed and recorded with several rock and heavy metal bands over 25 years and owns more than 110 guitars, about 100 of them Gibsons. In 2026 he played on "Sanctuary," a charity single with Mateus Asato and Dream Theater's Jordan Rudess released alongside the DES series.

Why there is no reliable net worth figure

Three things are missing. Gibson's ownership split between KKR, Melody Capital and other former lenders has never been published. The company's value is not public either, because it is not listed on a stock exchange. And his pay as CEO was never disclosed. Without those numbers, a net worth figure would be invented. We will add one if Forbes, Bloomberg or a similar outlet publishes it. For another investor who built a fortune in private markets, see Cherif Medawar's profile.
