No independent outlet has published an estimate of Cherif Medawar's personal net worth. The $17.3 million figure and the "$750k a year" income that appeared on this page before had no source (the old text attributed the income to a Forbes investigation that we could not find), so we have removed them. What is documented: Medawar is a commercial real estate investor, fund manager and educator who says he has built a portfolio of more than $100 million and owns more historic commercial property in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico, than anyone else.

What is Cherif Medawar's net worth?

The only large number in circulation comes from Medawar himself. His company website says he grew his real estate portfolio to more than $100 million, and podcast introductions repeat that figure as assets under management. A portfolio value is not the same as personal net worth: property is usually financed with debt, and fund assets belong partly to outside investors. No Forbes list, Bloomberg index or court record gives a figure for what he personally owns after debts.

So this page does not show a net worth number. The earlier $17.3 million figure had no source.

Where the money comes from

  • Property investing. His website says his first solo deal was a Southern California duplex in 1989 and that his holdings later passed $100 million. In a 2026 REsimpli podcast interview he said he assigned that first deal in escrow for about $250,000 within four months, having started with roughly $1,500 in cash.
  • Real estate funds. He launched his first fund in 2009 and a second in 2015, both filed with the SEC under Regulation D rules 506(b) and 506(c), according to his website. An SEC registration filing from 2015 lists him as CEO of United Group Fund, Inc. The San Francisco Standard referred to him in July 2026 as CEO of the real estate investment fund MIGSIF.
  • Education business. He founded Cherif Medawar Real Estate Investing (CMREI) in 1998. It sells commercial real estate courses, a joint-venture program, a fund-setup program and a paid membership called CRE DealPRO. CREPR.com says CMREI has offices in the San Francisco Bay Area, Central Florida and San Juan, and runs live trainings in hotel conference rooms.
  • Books and speaking. A March 2014 PRWeb release announced him as a contributor, alongside Steve Forbes, to the business book SUCCESSONOMICS.

Early life and education

Medawar told the REsimpli podcast that he came to the United States at 19 with a hotel management degree and worked at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. A wealthy real estate investor he met there hired him, and he worked for that investor for eight years through the 1980s before leaving in January 1989 to invest on his own.

The earlier version of this page said he earned a business degree from UCLA and that he developed the Tour Montparnasse and the Grande Arche in Paris. We found no reliable source for the degree, and the Paris buildings claim is false: those projects were built by others decades ago. Both have been removed.

Puerto Rico holdings

His company says he has been the largest owner of historic commercial properties in Old San Juan since 2004. In the REsimpli interview he tied the move to the island's tax incentives. His own CREPR.com site describes Original Resources Inc., a company he owns, as a partner of CMREI. None of these sources gives a value for the Puerto Rico buildings on their own.

Recent news (2026)

In July 2026 the San Francisco Standard covered a neighborhood fight over a planned mansion on an empty San Francisco lot. The lot had been owned by MIGSIF when an earlier, smaller home was proposed in 2023. Medawar told the paper the fund sold it after running into neighbor opposition and slow city permitting, that the same happened with other properties, and that the firm had stopped doing projects in San Francisco.

Reputation and reviews

People searching his name often look for reviews of his mentorship and joint-venture programs. His marketing cites more than 800 student success stories on one site and over 1,000 on his Instagram profile. These are the company's own claims; we found no independent survey or regulator action about the programs in the sources we reviewed. Anyone considering a paid course should read the contract terms and check independent reviews first.

How this page was checked

We used his company websites, the REsimpli podcast transcript, an SEC filing, a 2014 PRWeb release and a 2026 San Francisco Standard report. We removed the unsourced net worth, income table, age, height, weight, the UCLA degree, the Paris building claims and the contact section. His age and family details have not been published by a reliable source.
