No reputable publication has put a dollar figure on Bobby Alloway's wealth, so this page does not give one. The income numbers this profile used to show (hundreds of millions of dollars a year) had no source and have been removed. What is on the record is a long career: Alloway has run Alloway's Hot Rod Shop in Louisville, Tennessee, since 1991, built cars that won nearly every major prize in American hot rodding, and in 2023 co-founded the Triple Crown of Rodding, a car show that drew more than 3,200 vehicles in its second year.
What Is Bobby Alloway's Net Worth?
There is no credible published estimate. Celebrity Net Worth, Forbes and the business press do not cover him, and Alloway's Hot Rod Shop is a private company that does not report revenue. Any exact number found online is a guess.
What can be said is where his money comes from. His main business is building custom hot rods and muscle cars for paying customers, a slow and labor-heavy trade. In 2016 Fuel Curve reported that the shop had six employees and about 15 cars under construction at once (Fuel Curve). Beyond the shop, he has sold hundreds of his own Speedstar fiberglass car bodies, works with sponsors such as Borla and PPG, and co-owns a growing annual car show. None of these have public financial figures.

Bobby Alloway's Income and Earnings
No source reports his salary or yearly income. The revenue streams that are documented:
- Custom builds. The shop builds complete cars for private customers, from 1930s Fords to a 1960 Ford Starliner for a Georgia car dealer and a 1972 Corvette with an all-aluminum ZL1 big-block (Hot Rod). Alloway told Hot Rod in 2024 that he had a steady customer base and no longer needed to chase show trophies to bring in work.
- Speedstar bodies. Alloway launched his Speedstar fiberglass bodies in 1995. He told Fuel Curve that this product is what first made his name widely known and that the shop has built hundreds of them (Fuel Curve).
- Sponsorships. Exhaust maker Borla described him as one of its build partners in 2015, and he was also sponsored by paint company PPG (aftermarketNews).
- Events and judging. He co-organizes the Triple Crown of Rodding and is regularly hired or invited to judge major shows, including the Barrett-Jackson Cup at the Scottsdale auction (Barrett-Jackson).
Early Life and Family
Alloway has said he loved cars as a boy but could not afford them, so his father would buy him old cars and he learned to fix them himself. By the summer of 1972 he was working as a mechanic at a Chrysler dealership. After finishing school he took a job as a welder, was laid off, and went back to dealership work, where he stayed for 16 years (Fuel Curve).
Bobby Alloway's Wife
Alloway is married. In a 2016 interview he described standing with his wife and watching the shop burn after a lightning strike in 1998 (Fuel Curve). The sources reviewed for this page do not name her, so this profile no longer does either.
Education
No reliable source describes a college degree. The earlier version of this page claimed a bachelor's and a master's degree, which could not be verified and has been removed. What is documented is hands-on training: years as a dealership mechanic and a stint as a welder before he opened his own shop (Fuel Curve).
Career: From Dealership Mechanic to Hot Rod Hall of Famer
Alloway's first magazine exposure came when Hot Rod's Gray Baskerville photographed a 1933 Ford coupe he had built. Soon after, he met Pete Chapouris and Jake Jacobs of Pete & Jake's, and through Chapouris he met builder Boyd Coddington. Alloway says Coddington became a close friend and that the relationship jump-started his career (Fuel Curve).
In 1985, while still employed at the dealership, he took a 1933 Ford Victoria street sedan to the Detroit Autorama and won the Ridler Award, one of the top prizes in the hobby. Some years later, after an argument with an office manager, he quit the dealership and opened Alloway's Hot Rod Shop in 1991. He has said the first year was so lean that he feared he would starve (Fuel Curve, Street Muscle). The Triple Crown of Rodding biography dates his impact on hot rodding to 1983, which likely counts his building years before the shop opened (Triple Crown of Rodding).

The 1998 fire
Lightning struck the shop in 1998 and it burned to the ground. Alloway called in favors from everyone he knew and reopened in 45 days. He later said that after the fire the shop won AMBR twice, Street Rod of the Year three times and Street Machine of the Year once (Fuel Curve).
The 2015 run
2015 was his biggest year. A black 1933 Ford roadster his shop built for Larry Olson won America's Most Beautiful Roadster at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, where Alloway was also inducted into the show's Hall of Fame (Street Muscle). The same car won the SEMA Battle of the Builders in Las Vegas that November, and a 1937 Chevy coupe built for Chuck Rowe took Goodguys Street Rod of the Year in Columbus (aftermarketNews, Fuel Curve).
The Alloway style
His cars are easy to spot: nearly all black, a nose-down stance people call the "Alloway rake," big rear tires with small fronts, and a large engine. He prefers stock-looking bodies with changes that are hard to pick out. In his 2024 Hot Rod interview he called himself old-school and said he still builds largely by hand while younger shops lean on CNC machining and 3D scanning (Hot Rod).
Triple Crown of Rodding
Alloway and promoter Gary Case launched the Triple Crown of Rodding in September 2023 at Nashville Superspeedway. It hands out six main awards, three for cars and three for trucks. Over 1,600 vehicles took part in the first year (In The Garage Media). Alloway told Hot Rod he started it to give younger builders a show without politics or participation trophies (Hot Rod).
The event grew quickly. Modern Rodding reported that the 2024 edition drew 3,224 cars and trucks, over 20,000 spectators and 162 exhibitors, roughly double the first year. The award itself dates to 2016, when it was presented at the Shades of the Past show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee (Modern Rodding). The third edition ran in September 2025 (Fuel Curve), and its celebrity meet-and-greet has featured builders such as Chip Foose and Troy Trepanier alongside Alloway and Case (The Auto Builder). How the show's revenue is split between its organizers has not been reported.
Recent News (2025-2026)
- Goodguys Legends of Hot Rodding, May 2026. Goodguys named Alloway one of its industry honorees at the first Legends of Hot Rodding, held May 15-16, 2026, at the Fairgrounds Nashville. He sat on a panel with fellow honorees Alan Johnson, Steve Tracy and Dennis Overholser, his shop presented the event's main outdoor stage, and he picked the Builder's Choice Top 10 awards (Fuel Curve, Fuel Curve).
- Triple Crown of Rodding 2025. The third show at Nashville Superspeedway featured a set by Gary Sinise's Lt. Dan Band (Fuel Curve).
- Barrett-Jackson Cup. Alloway and Troy Trepanier served as judges for the Barrett-Jackson Cup, the custom-car competition held during the Scottsdale auction (Barrett-Jackson).
Age, Height and Weight
Hot Rod described Alloway as 69 years old in a September 2024 interview (Hot Rod), which puts him around 71 in 2026. His exact birth date has not been published. No reliable source gives his height or weight, so the figures on the old version of this page have been removed.
Net Worth Compared
Like other owner-operators profiled here, such as Bill Weiland and Bill Clerico, Alloway's finances are private. His reputation in hot rodding is much larger than his company. A small Tennessee shop with a handful of craftsmen does not produce the kind of revenue that would support the huge estimates found on content-farm sites.
Why There Is No Reliable Estimate
A net worth figure would need numbers that are not public: what the shop earns, what the Louisville property is worth, what he has made from Speedstar body sales and sponsors, and what share of the Triple Crown he owns. None of those have been reported. This page will be updated if a credible outlet publishes a figure.
