No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Dr. Larry Caplin's net worth, so the $23 million figure that used to appear here, which had no source, has been removed. Caplin is a Pennsylvania dentist and the CEO of DOCS Health, a mobile healthcare company, and he is best known to the public as the owner and driver of the SSC Tuatara hypercar that set a 282.9 mph production-car speed record in January 2021.
What is Dr Larry Caplin's net worth?
There is no reliable figure. DOCS Health is privately held and does not publish revenue or profit, and Caplin has not appeared on any rich list. What the press has documented is a large car collection and a company of real size. In a 2020 interview with Pursuitist, DOCS Health was described as running more than 50 mobile health practices and employing over 7,500 medical and dental professionals. That points to substantial wealth, but it does not let anyone calculate a number responsibly.
The previous version of this page also claimed an annual income of $750,000, an age of 42, and a height and weight. None of these had a source, and the age conflicts with his own account of restoring a car in 1990, so they have been removed.

DOCS Health
DOCS Health delivers on-site medical and dental care to groups that have limited access to it: schools, the military and government agencies, correctional facilities and corporate clients. Pursuitist reported that the company is headquartered in Pipersville, Pennsylvania.
During the COVID-19 pandemic the company moved into testing. Caplin told Pursuitist that DOCS Health ran testing for the Philadelphia Department of Health and covered testing in southeastern Virginia and eastern North Carolina. In August 2020 the Associated Press quoted him as a consultant to nearly 20 NFL players and their union on testing protocols, and described him as having 30 years of logistics experience.

Early life
Caplin grew up in Northeast Philadelphia, 6abc Philadelphia reported. He told Top Gear his family did not have much money, but his father kept a fairly new car and washed it daily, and those cars were where many of their conversations happened. At 12 he was sweeping floors at an auto repair shop, and he later moved on to brake jobs, exhaust work and rebuilding alternators.
His father sold cars, and Caplin still owns a 1967 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport that his father sold new; restoring it in 1990 was his first restoration, he told WhichCar. Outlets including Road & Track and WhichCar describe him as a dentist. We could not confirm where he studied, so the college named in the earlier version of this page has been left out.
The SSC Tuatara speed record
Caplin bought the first customer SSC Tuatara, a car Pursuitist priced at about $1.9 million. In October 2020 SSC announced that the car, driven by professional Oliver Webb, had averaged 316.11 mph on a Nevada highway, and Caplin pledged to raise $316,000 for charity on the back of it, according to 6abc. That run was soon questioned, and SSC admitted errors in editing the video that documented it, Road & Track reported.
Caplin then chose to drive the car himself. On January 17, 2021, on the 2.3-mile runway at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, he recorded a two-way average of 282.9 mph, verified this time by Racelogic data equipment. He told Road & Track he wanted to be able to raise charity money with the car and felt the car community had been let down by the first attempt.
In May 2022 he went back to the same runway and reached 295 mph in one direction, but an error cost the team its chance at 300 mph and a new two-way record, Motor Authority reported.
Car collection
Caplin's collection is the most visible sign of his wealth. In interviews with Top Gear and WhichCar he listed:
- Ferrari FXX K Evo and 599XX track cars, raced through Ferrari's Corse Clienti program
- The last SSC Ultimate Aero built, which he said was his first supercar
- The last Mosler built, the only Raptor GTR
- One of three Saleen S7 twin-turbo competition cars
- Two 2005 Ford GTs, one a daily driver, plus a newer Ford GT in Gulf livery
- A Lamborghini, a Ferrari Portofino and a Ferrari 812
- Family cars including the 1967 Impala SS, a 1977 Trans Am, a 1973 Super Beetle, a 1970 Bronco and a 1968 Camaro
CF Charities
Caplin and his wife founded CF Charities in 2008, according to 6abc. The nonprofit supports youth education, college scholarships for first-generation students, health programs in underserved schools and military families. Road & Track described its work as healthcare for military dependents and scholarships for students entering medical professions. The Tuatara was due to appear at the charity's Philadelphia supercar show.
Family
Caplin is married and has spoken about his wife and sons in interviews; he told Pursuitist that one son is a mechanical engineer and another a biomedical engineer. The earlier version of this page named his wife. We could not confirm her name in a reliable published source, so we have not repeated it, and we have removed the invented description of their relationship.
Why no estimate is published
Caplin's main asset, DOCS Health, is private, and figures for its staffing come from a 2020 interview rather than filings. His cars are valuable but their worth depends on sale prices that are not public. Until a reputable outlet reports his wealth, the honest answer is that it is unknown.
