No reputable outlet, including Forbes or Celebrity Net Worth, has published an estimate of Bill Achtmeyer's net worth, so this page does not give one. What is on the record is the business behind his wealth: he co-founded the strategy firm The Parthenon Group in 1991, ran it for more than two decades and sold it to EY in 2014. Since 2021 he has led Acropolis Advisors, a CEO advisory firm he started with Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter.
What is Bill Achtmeyer's net worth?
There is no published figure. The deal that most likely shaped his fortune, EY's 2014 purchase of Parthenon, was done on undisclosed terms. Consultancy.uk reported at the time that Parthenon had revenue of more than $80 million, about 350 staff and 33 partners, and that the price was described as highly attractive for the partners, but it gave no dollar amount. Achtmeyer's own firm biography at Acropolis Advisors puts Parthenon at roughly $100 million in revenue with 28 partners in 2014 and says the sale was made at a record multiple for a strategy consulting firm.
Because he was the founder, chairman and CEO, he was presumably one of the largest holders in the partnership, but his share of the proceeds, his EY pay after the deal and his income from Acropolis have never been reported. An earlier version of this page listed a yearly income of $5 million with monthly and daily breakdowns; no source supports those numbers and we have removed them.

Where the money comes from
- Bain & Company (1977 to 1991). He joined Bain in 1977, became one of its ten senior partners, started its mergers and acquisitions practice and ran business development in North America, according to Acropolis Advisors.
- The Parthenon Group (1991 to 2014). He and fellow Bain director John Rutherford founded the Boston firm in 1991 (Wikipedia). He became chairman, CEO and managing partner in 1994. By the time of the sale it had six offices: Boston, San Francisco, London, Mumbai, Shanghai and Singapore.
- EY-Parthenon (2014 to 2019). EY completed the combination on September 2, 2014, and said in its press release that Achtmeyer would lead the new Parthenon-EY unit inside its Transaction Advisory Services arm. He led it until the end of 2019. His Acropolis biography credits him with growing it into a business of about $2 billion with 500 partners and 5,000 consultants; that is the company's own description, not an audited figure.
- Acropolis Advisors (2021 to present). A senior advisory firm for CEOs. He is listed as co-founder, chairman and managing partner, with Michael E. Porter as co-founder and senior partner emeritus (Acropolis team page).
- Board seats. In January 2026 healthcare consultancy Alira Health said he had joined its board of directors (GlobeNewswire release). Director pay for that role was not disclosed.

Professional life and clients
Achtmeyer's reputation rests on corporate strategy and merger work. He developed a planning method he calls the Full Potential Paradigm, which is meant to give CEOs fact-based growth and margin targets, and his firm says a book on it is in progress. Over four decades he advised chief executives at companies including Ford Motor Company, eBay, Corning, Agilent, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Thomson Reuters, McGraw-Hill and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, according to Acropolis Advisors.
At the time of the EY sale he told Consultancy.uk that joining EY offered growth the firm could not have reached on its own. In August 2023 Acropolis announced an alliance with Catalant Technologies, which runs a network of about 80,000 independent consultants, pitching the pair as an alternative to the largest strategy firms (Acropolis announcement).

Early life and family
Few details of his childhood are public. His firm biography names Belmont Hill, the Massachusetts private school, as his alma mater and says he has been its vice chair for more than twenty years. The Boston Business Journal described him in 2014 as a Beacon Hill resident and keen cyclist (BBJ). Earlier text on this page about his father's business and his childhood had no source and has been removed.
Bill Achtmeyer wife
He is married to Alli Achtmeyer. The couple were honored together in June 2017 with UNICEF's Helenka Pantaleoni Humanitarian Award, given for their work with vulnerable children; both served on UNICEF USA's New England regional board, the Boston Herald reported. Details such as their wedding date and children have not been publicly reported.
Education
Achtmeyer holds an A.B. from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth (Acropolis Advisors). Tuck lists him as a member of the class of 1981. He chaired Tuck's board of overseers from 1997 until July 2012, and the school says he hooded more than 2,600 graduates at its investiture ceremonies and that Parthenon hired many Tuck alumni (Tuck School of Business). The old claim that he studied at Dartmouth College as an undergraduate is not supported and has been corrected.
Philanthropy and public roles
- Chairman roles at the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, the Massachusetts High Technology Council, Tenacity and Lawrence Academy, per his firm biography.
- Chair of the 2018 Catholic Schools Foundation dinner in Boston, which raised a record $3.3 million for scholarships (The Boston Pilot).
- Runway for Recovery, a Boston charity for families facing metastatic breast cancer, gives an award named after him, the Bill Achtmeyer High Five Award (Runway for Recovery).
Age, height and weight
His date of birth has not been published, so his exact age is unknown. He began at Bain in 1977 and finished his MBA in 1981, which places him in his late sixties or older. The previous version of this page said he was 80, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 72 kg, and that he had retired; none of that was sourced, and he is still working at Acropolis and on corporate boards in 2026. His height and weight are not publicly reported.

Net worth compared
Other advisors and executives profiled on this site include Carolyn Tisch Blodgett and Bill Dallas. As with Achtmeyer, most private-firm founders have no published net worth estimate, so comparisons rest on the size of their businesses rather than on personal figures.
Why no estimate is given
Parthenon was a private partnership, the EY deal terms were never disclosed, and Acropolis is private. Without a filing, a court record or a credible press estimate, any number would be a guess. We will add a figure if Forbes, Bloomberg or a similar outlet publishes one. Contact details and a phone number section on the old page were removed; we do not publish private contact information.
