Carlo Trinchero is a third-generation member of the Napa Valley family behind Sutter Home and Trinchero Family Estates, one of the largest wine companies in the United States. He co-founded the Taken Wine Company in 2009 and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2015. No reputable publisher has estimated his personal net worth, and this page does not give one; any wealth he holds is tied to the privately owned family business.

What is Carlo Trinchero's net worth?

There is no published estimate from Forbes, Bloomberg, Celebrity Net Worth or a major newspaper. The earlier version of this page claimed he earns $100 million a year. That figure had no source and does not match a director-level role at a family winery, so it has been removed.

What can be said is that Trinchero Family Estates is privately owned by the Trinchero family, and Carlo's father, Roger Trinchero, has been its chief executive. How ownership is split among family members, and what Carlo's share might be, has never been reported.

The family business: Trinchero Family Estates

The Trincheros have made wine in Napa Valley since 1948. In the early 1970s the family created Sutter Home White Zinfandel, which Patch credits with changing the way Americans drink wine. By 2018, SevenFifty Daily called Trinchero Family Estates the second-largest family-owned winery in the world and the fourth-largest winery in the U.S., run by brothers Bob and Roger Trinchero. Eater San Francisco reported in 2022 that the company runs more than 50 wine and spirits brands.

Where the money comes from

  • Trinchero Family Estates. He has worked for the family company for more than a decade, most recently leading its fine-wine and heritage brands. His salary has not been disclosed.
  • Taken Wine Company. The brand he co-founded in 2009. Its wines, Taken, Complicated and Available, joined the Trinchero portfolio in 2013, and his co-founder sold out to Trinchero Family Estates in 2017.
  • Family ownership. Any stake he holds in the family business is private.

Early life and education

Trinchero grew up in St. Helena, California, the son of Roger Trinchero. He was an athlete in school and studied kinesiology and exercise science at California State University, Sacramento, PennLive reported in 2019, citing his company biography. The old page said he also earned a master's degree there; we found no source for that, and it has been removed. Eater gave his age as 35 in November 2022, which puts his birth around 1987. The old page's claim that he was 60, and its height and weight, were wrong or unsourced.

Taken Wine Company

The name came from how hard it was to find a brand name that was not already taken, according to Patch. The follow-up labels, Complicated and Available, played on relationship statuses on social media, and the brand was pitched at millennial drinkers. The North Bay Business Journal reported that when Phelps sold his interest in 2017, Trinchero Family Estates, which already made the wines, bought it. The price was not disclosed. Carlo's own website says he was also named to Zagat's 30 Under 30.

Several outlets have reported on legal cases involving Trinchero. In November 2022, Napa County sheriff's deputies arrested him on suspicion of felony gun and ammunition offenses and a misdemeanor drug offense. At the time he was barred from owning guns because of an earlier case, according to the San Francisco Chronicle as summarized by Eater SF. He was released on $50,000 bail, and no charges had been filed when that report was published. In May 2023 he turned himself in to Napa police on a warrant related to a felony stalking allegation, the Napa Valley Register reported. We did not find reliable reports of how these cases ended, so this page does not describe an outcome.

Personal life

The Napa Valley Register reported that Trinchero and his wife, Stephanie, filed for divorce in June 2022, and that they have daughters. The old page described Stephanie as his current wife and supportive business partner; that description has been removed.

Net worth compared

Other executives profiled here include Benny Magness and Bofta Yimam. Like many heirs to family businesses, Trinchero's financial position depends on a private ownership structure that is not disclosed, which is why no reputable outlet has attached a number to him.

Why no figure is given

An estimate would need his share of Trinchero Family Estates, the value of that company, and his pay. None of those is public. Figures on other websites are guesses, and we will add one only if a reputable publisher reports it.
