No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Calvin Quallis's net worth, so the $12 million figure that used to appear here, which had no source, has been removed. Quallis is the founder and CEO of Scotch Porter, the Newark, New Jersey, men's grooming brand sold at Target, Walmart and CVS, and of its parent company, Quallis Brands. The earlier version of this page described him as a product development employee; he founded and runs the business.
What is Calvin Quallis's net worth?
There is no reliable figure. Scotch Porter is private and venture-backed, so Quallis's personal stake is not disclosed. What has been reported is the size of the business: BeautyMatter listed Scotch Porter's expected 2024 revenue at $20 million to $30 million, and Barron's reported in 2023 that it was selling eight figures a year. Outside investors have put money in across at least two rounds, which dilutes the founder's share, and revenue is not profit. For those reasons we do not estimate his wealth.
The page previously listed an income of $600,000 a year (alongside a contradictory $500,000 a month), an age of 36, a height and weight, a wife's name and a university. None came from a source, and all have been removed.

Early life
Quallis is the son of immigrants from Guyana, he told Barron's, and grew up with the expectation that a corporate job was the route to a better life. As a boy he spent time in his mother's beauty shop and barbershop, watching stylists send customers out feeling more confident, an experience he has repeatedly cited as the root of Scotch Porter.
From finance to barbershop
Before Scotch Porter, Quallis worked in finance at a global market research firm, NJBIZ reported, a job he told Barron's paid six figures but left him miserable. As a creative outlet he opened a barbershop, Center Stage Cuts, in a brownstone in downtown Newark. Many customers had dry, damaged hair and beards, so he began mixing plant-based formulas in his kitchen using ingredients such as aloe, nettle leaf and kale protein and testing them on clients.

Building Scotch Porter
The brand launched in 2015 at the barbershop and online about six months later. It is named after his favorite drink and the jazz singer Gregory Porter. Sales passed $1 million in the first year, largely through word of mouth and social media, and Quallis closed the barbershop to run the company full time.
Production moved from his kitchen to a facility in East Orange; in July 2019 the company took a 10,000-square-foot warehouse, up from 3,000 square feet. The range grew from beard care into hair, skin, fragrance, body care and supplements. In March 2020 Scotch Porter launched nationally at Walmart and Target, and in early 2022 it expanded its beard line to nearly 2,300 CVS Pharmacy stores, according to Happi.
Funding
Scotch Porter raised a round led by Stage 1 Fund in 2021, then closed an $11 million Series B in April 2022 led by Pendulum, an investment platform focused on businesses run by entrepreneurs of color. Quallis said the money would go to scaling operations and adding products.
Leadership and recent years
By 2024 Scotch Porter had a fuller executive team, with Christian Chopra as president and Michael Long as CFO, and Quallis told BeautyMatter the focus had shifted to efficient, profitable growth measured against targets such as order value and channel margins. The company went through Target's accelerator program.
In an August 2025 interview with EBONY, Quallis said the brand began with no money as a passion project and that its mission is helping men, especially Black men, treat grooming as self-care.
Social impact
Scotch Porter's Social Impact Fund, launched in 2022, had donated more than $340,000 by 2024 and reached about 76,000 people through job training, education, entrepreneurship and recidivism programs, Quallis told BeautyMatter.

Why no estimate exists
Scotch Porter's revenue range is known, but not its profit, its latest valuation or how much of it Quallis still owns after two venture rounds. Private consumer brands are often valued at a multiple of sales, but applying one would be guesswork. Until a reputable outlet reports his stake, we list his net worth as not published.
