Buckin Billy Ray Net Worth 2026: Ax Men Logger and YouTuber

No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Buckin' Billy Ray's net worth. The $1.3 million figure and the $300,000 yearly income on the earlier version of this page had no source, so we have removed them. What is documented is how he earns a living: Billy Ray Smith is a tree faller from Vancouver Island, British Columbia, who ran his own tree service, appeared on History's reality series Ax Men, and now runs the Buckin' Billy Ray Smith YouTube channel and an online merchandise store.

What is Buckin Billy Ray's net worth?

There is no published figure from any business publication or reliable celebrity finance source. He is a self-employed logger and creator, and none of his businesses file public accounts. Numbers on other sites are typically worked out from YouTube view counts using generic ad-rate formulas, which can be off by a wide margin in either direction.

His income comes from four known sources, none of which has been valued publicly:

• Tree work: his company, Buckin' Billy Ray's Tree Service, which took on precision removal jobs on private land.
• YouTube: advertising income from a channel with more than 800,000 subscribers and over 5,000 videos.
• Merchandise: hats, hickory work shirts, hoodies and T-shirts sold through his website.
• Television and appearances: his time on Ax Men and paid or promotional appearances at forestry shows.

Buckin Billy Ray's yearly income

His earnings are not public. The figures shown here before ($300,000 a year, $10,000 a month, $334 a day) did not even add up to each other and had no source. YouTube does not publish what individual channels earn, and pay per view varies widely by audience, country and video length. Without a disclosed figure, the honest answer is that his income is unknown.

Who is Buckin' Billy Ray?

According to his own website, Smith grew up far from towns and subdivisions, with few other children or schools nearby, and spent his childhood in the woods with his brother, pushing over dead trees and learning to climb. A local logger taught him to use a chainsaw when he was young. After high school he went straight to work, tried a few jobs that did not suit him, then started bucking and selling firewood before moving on to falling timber.

That led to his own company, Buckin' Billy Ray's Tree Service, and later to what he calls the Buckin' Billy Ray Experience, his video and merchandise brand. His site says he spent some 20 years falling timber and climbing trees while raising a family, with several broken bones and a few near-death experiences along the way.

Ax Men on History

History's cast page for Ax Men describes him as an old-school ax man from Vancouver Island who dislikes logging with big machines. Instead he uses axes he makes by hand and vintage chainsaws from a collection of nearly 67 saws, and he believes nothing beats a chainsaw from the 1950s. Wikipedia's Ax Men article lists Buckin' Billy Ray's Tree Service among the crews featured on the show.

The show also covered a serious logging accident that crushed his spine and broke his leg. He kept working afterward, taking smaller jobs on private properties that call for precise felling. The series followed him as he trained his son Hogan, then 19, to fell large timber while tied into the treetops as high as 100 feet up.

YouTube channel and online business

His channel, Buckin' Billy Ray Smith, is where most people know him from today. YouTube's listing for the channel showed about 839,000 subscribers and roughly 5,200 videos in September 2026. The videos cover axe handling and balance, splitting firewood, chainsaw tuning, vintage saws, work boots, and visits to tool makers such as Hults Bruk, billed in his video as the oldest axe maker in the world.

His website sells branded merchandise, with hats around $25 and hoodies around $56 at the time we checked, and posts updates to fans. In recent years, he says, he has shifted his message toward kindness and self-investment, and his store includes an "Axe of Kindness" design.

Public appearances

He also appears in person at forestry events. The News and Sentinel reported that Buckin' Billy Ray Smith was one of the YouTube personalities scheduled to meet fans at the 2023 Official Paul Bunyan Show at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds in Ohio, one of the oldest forestry trade shows in the eastern U.S. His website has also noted trips to the Paul Bunyan Show in other years.

Age, height, wife and education

His birth date, height and weight have not been published by a reliable source. The earlier version of this page said he was 57, 5 feet 7 inches and 82 kg, had a university degree and was known for "outrageous stunts"; none of that is supported, and his own website says he skipped college to go straight to work, so those claims have been removed. His site describes him as roughly halfway through life, and Ax Men showed him with a son of 19. He has spoken of raising a family, but we do not publish details about his spouse or children beyond what reputable sources report.

How he compares with other outdoor creators

Smith belongs to the same group of trade-skill and outdoor YouTubers as hunters such as Dean Partridge and Aaron Warbritton, who turned a working life outdoors into a media business. See also Brigette Hyacinth and Brittany Sjogren.

Why there is no reliable estimate

Creators like Smith earn from a mix of ads, sponsorships, merchandise and physical work, and none of those figures are public. Estimates based only on YouTube views ignore expenses, taxes, equipment costs and time lost to injuries, and they miss income from tree work. Until he or a reputable outlet discloses real numbers, his net worth is not known.
