  7. Why There Is No Reliable Figure

No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Brian Bogosian's net worth. He is not a technology reporter, as an earlier version of this page claimed: he is a software executive who leads Sticky.io, a subscription commerce and payments platform, and who previously ran the mobile email companies Visto and Good Technology. His wealth, whatever its size, comes from decades of CEO pay and equity in private software companies.

What Is Brian Bogosian's Net Worth?

There is no reliable figure. This page previously gave three different numbers, $2.3 million, $2.8 billion and a yearly income of $125 million, none of them sourced and none consistent with each other. We have removed all three.

What can be said is where his money is likely to come from. Bogosian has been chief executive of several venture-backed and private software companies since at least 2000. Executives in that position are usually paid a salary plus equity, but the size of his stakes and any payouts from company sales have not been disclosed. Sticky.io is privately held and does not publish executive pay.

Brian Bogosian Yearly Earnings, Monthly Income, and Salary

His salary has never been reported. The income table on the old page (about $125 million a year, $10.4 million a month and $347,000 a day) had no source and is not plausible for the CEO of a mid-sized private software company. We found no filing, press report or company statement that gives his pay.

Visto and the wireless email patent fights

Bogosian led Visto, a Redwood Shores, California, company that supplied mobile email software to carriers such as Sprint Nextel and Vodafone. In the mid-2000s Visto became known for aggressive patent enforcement. It sued Microsoft in December 2005 and Good Technology in January 2006, according to an Associated Press report carried by NBC News.

In April 2006 a Texas jury found that rival Seven Networks had infringed three Visto patents and awarded about $3.6 million. Days later Visto sued Research In Motion, maker of the BlackBerry. The New York Times reported that Bogosian said the company had not tried to negotiate with RIM before filing, and that Visto then had about 400 employees. In July 2007 Visto and Seven settled with a licensing deal, the Mercury News reported; Bogosian said the agreement strengthened Visto's patent portfolio.

Good Technology

Good Technology, one of the rivals Visto had sued, was owned by Motorola in 2007, the Mercury News noted. By February 2010 Bogosian was running Good: that month, as its chairman, CEO and president, he announced a worldwide licensing deal to put the company's "Good for You" messaging software on LG phones, according to a company press release. MarketScreener lists his Good Technology and Visto roles as ending in 2010.

Sticky.io

Sticky.io, previously called Lime Light CRM, sells billing, subscription management and checkout software to online merchants. In July 2020 the company rebranded and took a minority equity investment led by the private equity firm Flexpoint Ford, with Bogosian quoted as CEO, according to adviser First Analysis. At the time the company said it had more than 10,000 merchant customers and processed over $4.5 billion a year.

Sticky.io's own website now says it processes more than $12 billion a year and supports 72 million subscriptions. It lists Bogosian as chairman and CEO.

Education

MarketScreener lists undergraduate studies at Suffolk University in Boston. The old page also claimed a master's degree from Northeastern University; we could not confirm that and have removed it. The old opening paragraph's claims of a UC Berkeley computer science degree and jobs at Google, Facebook and Twitter were also unsupported and have been removed.

Early Life, Family and Wife

Bogosian has kept his private life out of the press. The previous version of this page named a wife and described her life; we could not verify any of it from a reliable source, so it has been removed. His age, height and weight are also not published anywhere reliable, and we no longer list them.

Other software leaders profiled on this site include Carl Dvorak of Epic and Craig Potts. As with Bogosian, their personal fortunes depend largely on private equity stakes that are rarely disclosed.

Why There Is No Reliable Figure

Bogosian has spent most of his career at private companies. Their valuations, his ownership and any proceeds from financings are not public. Visto and Good Technology fought expensive patent battles, and the returns to management from those years were never reported. Without filings or a credible press estimate, any net worth number for him would be invented, which is why this page does not give one.
