No reputable outlet has published an estimate of Bill Duker's net worth. The $300 million figure on earlier versions of this page had no source and has been removed. What is on record is substantial: Duker, a former lawyer, co-founded the e-discovery firm Amici, which Xerox bought for $174 million in cash in 2006; he owns trophy penthouses in Miami and New York that he listed for a combined $138 million in 2026; and he built the 230-foot sailing superyacht Sybaris. His share of the Amici sale and his debts are not public, so any total would be a guess.

What is Bill Duker's net worth?

There is no figure from Forbes, Bloomberg, Celebrity Net Worth or a major newspaper. The Amici sale price was paid to all its owners, which included the venture firm Ideal Ventures and others, and the terms of his stake were not reported. Asking prices for property are not sale prices. Because none of the pieces can be added up reliably, this page does not give a number.

Where the money came from

Amici and the Xerox sale

After his legal career ended, Duker was part of Ideal Ventures, a venture firm that formed Amici LLC, a privately held document-discovery company based in Albany, New York, the Business Journals reported. Amici handled electronic evidence for lawsuits. Xerox bought it in an all-cash deal worth $174 million in 2006 (New York Post). His wife, Sharon Duker, was Amici's chief financial officer.

Real estate

Duker bought both of his best-known homes during the 2008–09 financial crisis. In Miami he paid $16 million in 2008 for a concrete shell spanning the 22nd to 24th floors of the Apogee at 800 South Pointe Drive and spent five years finishing it, with a private rooftop pool. He first asked $65 million for it about a decade ago. In 2009 he paid $30.5 million for a 7,500-square-foot penthouse at the Sky Lofts, 145 Hudson Street in Tribeca (The Real Deal).

Sybaris

Duker commissioned Sybaris, a two-masted, 230-foot sailing yacht built by Perini Navi with carbon masts by Rondal and interiors by PH Design, which won Best Interior at the Monaco Yacht Show, Forbes reported in 2016. He told Forbes the idea began years earlier on a smaller sailboat with his son, West, and that he had done 12 projects with PH Design since buying his first Miami apartment in 1992. He said the team chose titanium for nearly all of the furniture and hardware because they wanted to do something different, and described the builders as people who were passionate about their work. The yacht's cost was not reported.

As a lawyer, Duker worked for the FDIC and the Resolution Trust Corporation recovering money lost in the savings and loan crisis. While doing that work he overbilled the government by $1.4 million. In 1997 he pleaded guilty to four felony counts, including making false statements and obstructing a federal audit, and was sentenced to 33 months in prison and disbarred (New York Post). He was also fined $7,500 and paid $2.58 million in restitution and civil damages (The Real Deal). The judge, Sonia Sotomayor, now a Supreme Court justice, said the case was hard to reconcile because he had helped recover hundreds of millions of dollars for the government while defrauding it.

Recent changes (2025–2026)

In June 2026 Duker listed the Miami penthouse for $78 million and the Tribeca penthouse for $59.5 million. He told the New York Post he was 72 and beginning to organize the next phase of his life, and no longer needed two apartments that large.

Family and philanthropy

Duker is married to Sharon Duker, a financial adviser and president and co-owner of Westco, Inc., a private investment company in Westerlo, New York. With their son West, they started the Bernard and Millie Children's Foundation, which gave $25 million to Albany Medical Center in 2014; Sharon then joined the hospital's board (Business Journals). Earlier versions of this page gave a height and a law school without sources; those have been removed.

How he compares

For other investors on this site, see Arthur Lozinski, Carl Buddig and Don Nicewonder, whose family also sold its company for a nine-figure sum.

Why there is no figure

The largest documented numbers, the $174 million Amici sale and the $138 million in property asking prices, are not his personal wealth: the first was split among owners and the second depends on buyers. Yachts cost heavily to run. Until a reputable publisher estimates his fortune, the honest summary is that he is wealthy on the evidence of his assets, but no one has published a reliable total.
