No reputable publication has estimated Ari Rubenstein's net worth. The $5 million figure shown here before had no source, and the old page described him as a visual effects artist, which was simply wrong, so both have been removed. Rubenstein is the co-founder and chief executive of GTS (Global Trading Systems), a New York electronic market-making and trading firm he co-founded in 2006, according to the company. He also founded ClearList, a marketplace for shares of private companies. In September 2025 he and his wife bought a $15 million waterfront house on Palm Island in Miami Beach, The Real Deal reported.

What is Ari Rubenstein's net worth?

GTS is privately owned and does not publish revenue, profit or ownership, and no outlet has reported the size of Rubenstein's stake. Forbes and Bloomberg have not included him on their billionaire lists or published an estimate. The Palm Island purchase shows significant wealth, but it was partly financed: The Real Deal said the couple took an $8.3 million mortgage from City National Bank of Florida. The earlier version of this page also listed a $1 million annual income; that had no source and has been removed.

GTS: the source of his wealth

GTS describes itself as a multi-asset electronic market maker: it uses automated, quantitative trading to quote buy and sell prices across markets and earns from the spread and from exchange arrangements. Under Rubenstein it grew from a start-up proprietary trading shop into a global liquidity provider, the company says, with U.S. broker-dealers and a UK-regulated European arm.

  • Cantor Fitzgerald deal: In late 2018 GTS agreed to buy Cantor Fitzgerald's ETF market-making and retail stock-trading businesses, a deal Bloomberg covered at the time. Business Insider reported it closed in May 2019 and brought about 30 people into GTS.
  • Corporate bonds: After the Cantor deal, GTS used its ETF business as a base to push into corporate bond trading, Rubenstein told Business Insider in 2019.
  • Offices: The New York Business Journal reported in 2024 that GTS was moving one of its Manhattan offices to Chelsea; it had offices in Midtown East and the Financial District.

ClearList and the SpaceX dispute (2026)

Rubenstein founded ClearList, which the company describes as an equities marketplace for private companies; ClearList Holdings operates a broker-dealer and registered investment adviser. Funds controlled through ClearList held private shares of SpaceX, which rose sharply in value ahead of the company's June 12, 2026, IPO.

In January 2026 Trellis Software, which says it owns 10% of ClearList Holdings, sued GTS Management Partners, Rubenstein, another executive and ClearList in Delaware's Court of Chancery, seeking to stop an arbitration that challenges its stake, Bloomberg Law reported. On June 30, 2026, Vice Chancellor Paul Fioravanti Jr. sent the dispute to arbitration in New York and denied Trellis's request for an injunction, according to Bloomberg Law. The case has not been decided on its merits. What it shows is that ClearList's SpaceX-linked holdings became valuable enough to fight over; how much of that value belongs to Rubenstein has not been reported.

Rubenstein is also a member of FINRA's Market Surveillance Advisory Group, has testified before the House Financial Services Committee and the SEC on market structure, and has written op-eds for the Wall Street Journal, Barron's, the Financial Times and others, according to GTS.

Property

The Palm Island house is a 5,200-square-foot home built in 1958 on about 0.7 waterfront acres, with seven bedrooms and a pool. The Real Deal reported that the seller had paid $8.6 million for it in 2015 and that the Rubensteins bought it off-market.

Ari Rubenstein's wife and family

The earlier version of this page said Rubenstein was married to Atoosa. That is out of date. According to The Real Deal, Atoosa Rubenstein, the former editor-in-chief of Seventeen, is his first wife, with whom he has three children. His current wife is Zaily Rubenstein, who co-owns the Palm Island home with him.

Education, age and height

The old version of this page said he studied at the University of Vermont and earned a master's degree, and gave his age as 46 and his height as 5 feet 5 inches. We found no reputable source for any of these, and his GTS biography says he started his career as a floor runner in the mid-1990s, so they have been removed.

Why there is no reliable estimate

Owners of private trading firms rarely disclose their stakes, and trading profits can swing sharply from year to year. Rubenstein's holdings in GTS and ClearList, and any gain from ClearList's SpaceX exposure, are not public, and the ClearList ownership dispute is still unresolved. A single number would be a guess.
