Erick Thohir declared net assets of Rp2.41 trillion (Indonesian rupiah) as of the end of 2024 in his official wealth report to Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), according to Bisnis.com. That is the most recent and most reliable figure for the former Inter Milan owner, who has been Indonesia's Minister of Youth and Sports since September 2025 and was Minister of State-Owned Enterprises from 2019 to 2025. Most of the declared wealth is in securities.

Bisnis.com reported that his wealth rose by Rp97.7 billion during his time as state enterprises minister. These are self-declared values in rupiah; the report does not assign a market value to his company shares, so the real worth of his holdings could differ. Forbes does not list Erick separately. It ranks his older brother, coal magnate Garibaldi "Boy" Thohir, and family at $3.8 billion on its 2025 list of Indonesia's richest, and its profile notes that Erick stepped down from his corporate positions.

• Vehicles: Rp4.97 billion, including a 2022 Genesis G80 EV, a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, a 2011 Honda motorcycle and a 1969 Mercedes-Benz received as a gift.
• Other movable assets: about Rp33.58 billion.
• Debts: about Rp129.66 billion, which brings gross assets of Rp2.54 trillion down to the net Rp2.41 trillion.

Where the money came from

Thohir was born in Jakarta on May 30, 1970. His father, Mochamad "Teddy" Thohir, was a co-owner of the automotive group Astra International alongside William Soeryadjaya, according to Wikipedia. After studying in the United States, where he earned a BA from Glendale Community College and an MBA from National University in California in 1993, he returned home and co-founded the Mahaka Group.

• Media. Mahaka bought the Islamic newspaper Republika in 2001 and expanded into outdoor advertising, Jak TV, the radio stations Gen FM and Jak FM, and ticketing and digital firms. On September 19, 2026, he opened Rumah Indonesia (House of Indonesia) in Nagoya, Japan, a lodging and coordination base for the country's 430 athletes at the 20th Asian Games, Antara reported. In August 2026 he told reporters that FIFA had approved Indonesia to host the first FIFA ASEAN Cup after President Prabowo issued a government guarantee, and that the hosting contract was being finalized, modeled on the one used for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup that Indonesia staged.
