Charles Goldstuck is a South African-born music executive and investor. He co-founded J Records with Clive Davis, ran the BMG labels as president and COO, chairs jukebox company TouchTunes, and since 2022 has run GoldState Music, which invests in music rights and companies. No reputable publisher, including Forbes, Bloomberg or Celebrity Net Worth, has estimated his personal net worth, so this page does not give one.

What is Charles Goldstuck's net worth?

An earlier version of this page gave $27 million and an income of $900,000 a year "according to a recent survey." We found no source for either number, and both have been removed. Goldstuck's wealth comes from private deals: equity in HitCo Entertainment, which was sold to Concord in 2022; his long involvement with TouchTunes; and his ownership of GoldState. None of those stakes or sale prices has been disclosed.

The capital GoldState manages should not be confused with his personal fortune. The firm's money comes largely from institutional investors. Music Business Worldwide reported in February 2026 that its two rights funds gave it roughly $1 billion in spending capacity, but that is investor money, not his.

Where the money comes from

  • GoldState Music. Founder and managing partner of a West Palm Beach, Florida, investment firm that buys music catalogs and backs music companies. As the manager, he would normally earn fees and a share of profits, but GoldState is private and publishes no figures.
  • TouchTunes. Former president and CEO, long-time chairman, and interim CEO again from January 2025. TouchTunes runs internet-connected jukeboxes in bars and venues.
  • HitCo Entertainment. Co-founded with L.A. Reid; its recorded-music business was sold to Concord in 2022, Variety reported. Terms were not disclosed.
  • Earlier label career. Senior roles at Capitol, Arista, J Records, RCA Music Group and BMG.
  • The Sanctuary. He founded a recording studio and music academy at Albany in the Bahamas, according to the Cape Times.

Early life and education

Goldstuck and his twin brother, technology analyst and author Arthur Goldstuck, grew up in Trompsburg in South Africa's Free State province. Arthur's Wikipedia entry gives his birth year as 1959, so Charles was born the same year and is about 67. The old page's claim that he was 70, along with its height and weight, had no source and has been removed.

He studied at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, where he earned BCom and BAcc degrees, according to Wits University. The old page said he held a BA, which appears to confuse him with his brother. In 2024 both twins registered for PhDs at Wits on how artificial intelligence is affecting the music industry.

J Records and Clive Davis

In a June 2026 tribute in Billboard after Clive Davis died, Goldstuck wrote that he and Davis launched J Records after Bertelsmann moved Davis out of the Arista CEO job in late 1999. The new label started with a $150 million budget and early offices in the Waldorf Towers in New York. Kennesaw State University, in a 2019 profile, says he spent five years as president and COO of the BMG labels.

TouchTunes

TouchTunes had about 190,000 connected jukeboxes worldwide in 2019. When chief executive Ross Honey left in January 2025, Goldstuck, who had stayed on as chairman, took over as interim CEO. He told RePlay Magazine it had been almost 16 years since he started with the company.

Recent changes (2025–2026)

  • April 2025: GoldState raised $500 million to buy music rights through a facility co-led by Northleaf Capital Partners and Ares Management, Music Business Worldwide reported. A few months earlier it had reportedly bought two catalogs for about $200 million.
  • February 2026: London-listed Bridgepoint became lead investor in a new GoldState growth-equity strategy. A source told MBW that Goldstuck aims to deploy up to $1 billion in growth equity over several years.
  • March 2026: GoldState and TA Associates led a nine-figure investment in indie distributor Too Lost, whose 2025 revenue topped $100 million, MBW reported.
  • September 2026: GoldState took a minority stake in audiobook publisher Podium Entertainment alongside Flexpoint Ford and Shamrock Capital. MBW, citing the Wall Street Journal, put the deal above $400 million.
  • 2025–2026: He funded Wits University's AI and African Music Project, a pilot that supports African musicians using AI, according to Wits.

Personal life

The earlier version of this page described a wife and a long courtship without naming anyone or citing a source. We could not confirm those details, so they have been removed. The Wits announcements describe him as US-based and a philanthropist.

Net worth compared

Other investors and executives profiled here include Charles Loflin and Carney Shegerian. Goldstuck's profile is closer to a private equity manager than a label boss: his current wealth is tied to GoldState's performance and his TouchTunes interests, not to a single company he owns outright.

Why no figure is given

To estimate his net worth you would need his share of the HitCo sale, his TouchTunes equity, his stake in GoldState and his fee and profit income from its funds. None of this is public. Sites that give an exact number are guessing. We will add a figure if Forbes, Bloomberg or a major newspaper publishes one.
