In this article
No reputable outlet has published a verified net worth for Bobi Wine. Figures online run from under $400,000 to $22 million, and none of them shows its working. What can be documented is how he earned money: two decades as one of Uganda's best-known singers, film and TV work, and, since 2017, public office and party leadership.
What is Bobi Wine's net worth?
Earlier versions of this page gave a figure of $22 million. We could not trace that number to any financial publication, filing or interview, so we have removed it. A search in September 2026 turned up estimates from music-stats pages, local gossip sites and net-worth aggregators that disagree with each other by a factor of more than 50. Some of these sites give no method at all. The rest simply project streaming and YouTube income.
The honest answer: nobody outside his household knows the figure. Uganda does not publish asset declarations of politicians in a form that journalists routinely report, and Bobi Wine has not disclosed his own wealth in any interview we could find.
Bobi Wine is the stage name of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, born on 12 February 1982 in Nkozi, Uganda. He is a singer, actor, lawyer and the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Uganda's main opposition party, according to Wikipedia.

Where the money comes from
Music
Music is the base of his public profile and his early income. He started recording in the early 2000s. Hits such as "Akagoma", "Funtula" and "Sunda" made his name in Kampala. His style mixes kidandali, reggae, dancehall and afrobeat, and over about 15 years he released more than 70 songs. His song "Kiwani" was used on the soundtrack of Disney's 2016 film Queen of Katwe. He led the Fire Base Crew and later formed a group called Ghetto Republic of Uganda.
From 2006 he moved toward what he called "edutainment", meaning songs on social and political themes aimed at poorer communities, such as "Ghetto" and "Time Bomb". That shift later fed directly into his politics.
Film and television
He has acted mainly in Ugandan productions: the 2010 drama Yogera, a lead role in the 2015 film Situka, and Divizionz. He also had his own reality series, The Ghetto President. The 2022 documentary Bobi Wine: The People's President followed him and his wife through the 2021 campaign. It won a Peabody Award in 2024 and was nominated for Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards. No source reports what, if anything, he was paid for the documentary.
Parliament and party leadership
He was the member of parliament for Kyadondo County East from July 2017 to May 2021, which carried a public salary for those four years. We did not find a reliable published figure for Ugandan MPs' pay that we could cite, so we do not give one here. Since July 2020 he has led the NUP.

Bobi Wine yearly earnings, monthly income and salary
This page used to list a yearly income of $1.1 million, a monthly income of $91,600 and a daily income of $3,500. Those numbers had no source and have been removed. No outlet has reported his annual income, record-label deals, concert fees or streaming royalties. Many concerts have been blocked or cancelled over the years. One example: a show planned in Dubai for 8 October 2022, meant to raise money to bring stranded Ugandans home, was called off by the UAE authorities, and he was held at the airport for about ten hours. Any fixed income table would be a guess.
Early life and family
He was born at Nkozi Hospital, where his mother, Margaret Nalunkuuma, worked as a midwife. His father was Jackson Willington Ssentamu. He grew up in Kamwokya, a slum in northeastern Kampala, and that neighborhood appears again and again in his music and charity work. His father died in February 2015 after a long illness with diabetes. A month later he released "Paradiso", a song about valuing parents while they are alive.

Bobi Wine wife
His wife is Barbara Itungo Kyagulanyi, known as Barbie. They met while he was at Makerere University, lived together for about ten years and married in August 2011. They have four children. Barbie founded Caring Hearts Uganda, a group that supports girls and teenage mothers, and he has served as its patron.
Education
He went to Kitante Hill School (O-level, 1996) and Kololo Senior Secondary School (A-level, 1998). He then studied music, dance and drama at Makerere University and earned a diploma in 2003. In 2016 he began a law degree at the International University of East Africa. He later moved to Cavendish University Uganda, which was accredited to teach law, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in August 2024. The old version of this page said he held a BA and a master's degree. Our sources do not support that, so we have corrected it.
Professional life and political career
- 2017: wins the Kyadondo County East by-election against candidates from the ruling NRM and the opposition FDC.
- 2018: campaigns for winning candidates in several by-elections and popularizes the "People Power" slogan.
- July 2020: joins the National Unity Platform and becomes its president and presidential candidate.
- January 2021: the electoral commission declares Yoweri Museveni the winner with 58.6% of the vote. Bobi Wine rejects the result as fraudulent.
- September 2025: nominated again as the NUP presidential candidate for 2026.
- January 2026: declared to have lost with 24.72% of the vote. He goes into hiding after security forces raid his home.
- March 2026: says he has left Uganda. He resurfaced in Washington, telling RFI that he had fled for his safety and was seeking international sanctions against the Ugandan government.
As of September 2026 he is based outside Uganda. His party says the trip is temporary.
Charity and public-health work
In 2012 he ran a sanitation and hand-washing campaign and paid for pit latrines and a drainage channel in Kisenyi, a Kampala slum. He has supported malaria prevention and visited a refugee camp in Bundibugyo in 2013 with Save the Children, UNHCR and the Red Cross. In 2014 he was one of 14 Ugandan artists who recorded a maternal and child health song for Save the Children's EVERY ONE campaign.
Age and height
Born in February 1982, Bobi Wine is 44 years old as of September 2026. The old page listed a height of 5 feet 10 inches and a weight of 70 kg. We found no reliable source for either, so both have been removed.

Why estimates differ
Net-worth sites tend to take one visible signal, such as YouTube views, a house or a car, and turn it into a round number. For Bobi Wine that method is especially shaky. His concert income has been disrupted for years, his public salary ended in 2021, and since 2026 he has lived outside the country. Until he or a credible news outlet publishes documented figures, we would treat any single number with caution.
