In this article
No reputable publisher, including Forbes and Bloomberg, has released a net worth estimate for Bob Zlotnik, and the $625 million figure on older profile sites had no source. The biggest documented event in his finances is the 2011 sale of StarTex Power, the Houston electricity retailer he co-founded with his wife, Marcie, to Constellation Energy for about $160 million in cash. The couple also owned the Sugar Land Skeeters baseball team and kept a minority stake when the Houston Astros bought control in 2021.
What is Bob Zlotnik's net worth?
There is no sourced figure. The old page also called him the founder of Just Energy, which is wrong: Just Energy is a separate company, and the only link is that Marcie Zlotnik later joined its board. Its yearly, monthly and daily income numbers were invented and have been removed.
What can be said is that the Zlotniks sold a company for nine figures and have since given away millions. How much of the StarTex price went to them personally, after other shareholders and taxes, has not been reported.

Where the money comes from
StarTex Power
Texas opened its retail electricity market in 2002, and in 2004 Bob and Marcie Zlotnik started StarTex Power in Houston, according to Wikipedia. Bob was president and CEO; Marcie, who had co-founded the retailer Gexa Energy in 2001, was chair. In 2010 the company reported $407 million in revenue, Smart Business reported, and it served about 170,000 homes and businesses. It ranked first in customer satisfaction in a 2009 J.D. Power study.
In May 2011 Constellation Energy agreed to buy StarTex. Energy Choice Matters reported the announced price as $142.5 million in cash, with industry sources putting the full value near $170 million once working capital was included. Constellation's own SEC filing later recorded the purchase of Star Electricity, Inc. (StarTex) at approximately $160.4 million in cash. The StarTex brand was retired in 2018.
Sugar Land Skeeters
The Zlotniks owned the Sugar Land Skeeters from the team's start in 2012, when it began play in the independent Atlantic League at Constellation Field. The club won league titles in 2016 and 2018. In November 2020 the Houston Astros agreed to buy majority control and make Sugar Land their Triple-A affiliate; the deal was approved by the city in April 2021, and MLB said the Zlotniks would remain minority partners. The team is now the Sugar Land Space Cowboys. No price for the stake was disclosed.
BZMZ Interests
Zlotnik is managing director of BZMZ Interests, a family investment company with holdings in the automobile and hotel industries as well as sports, according to a Rotary Club of Richmond speaker bio.

Why no estimate is given
The StarTex price is known, but not the Zlotniks' ownership percentage, the tax bill, what they paid for the Skeeters, what the Astros paid for control, or what BZMZ Interests holds today. Without those, any single figure would be invented. This page will add one if a reputable publisher releases it.
